Picture yourself interacting with a storefront using your smartphone as a remote controller; pointing, shaking, tapping, moving into any direction, like you’re playing a Wii game, all this made possible simply by visiting a purpose-made mobile website.

Sound sci-fi?

Enter Aero – the wonderful world of interactive mobile-to-screen experiences.

Aero is an innovative desktop game that is controlled by your smartphone. It is an experiment that blends the latest web technologies to push the boundaries of interacting with mobile platforms in today’s connected world.

Built with HTML5 web sockets and advanced CSS3 animations, Aero utilizes your smartphone sensors (accelerometer and gyroscope) and turns it into a remote control.

All you need to play Aero is a smartphone and a wi-fi or cellular data connection. No app to download, Aero runs on your smartphone’s mobile browser.

To begin playing, visit aero.velti.com on your computer. You’ll notice a unique player code. Now, launch aero.velti.com on your smartphone, enter that code and you are all set.

The unique player code helps “pairing” your smartphone with your computer. Now, replace “your computer” with any remote screen located in a store, bar, sports arena, restaurant, etc, and you can imagine what is possible.

The game challenges you to show off your marketing genius by completing 3 unique missions.

In mission 1, you use your smartphone to point on the characters that show up on the remote screen. An onscreen target icon follows up your pointing in order to help with orientation and targeting. When you are over a character, tap anywhere on your smartphone’s screen to “tap” that character and gain points.

Mission 2 prompts you to join the rich media revolution, by driving a virtual wagon to max speed by moving your smartphone up and down, as fast as you can.

In the final mission, you must fly a virtual paper plane through a series of rings symbolizing popular social media channels.

Based on your total score, you can make your way to the top of the daily leader board and you’ll be awarded a rookie, pro, or genius badge.

Here’s a teaser video showing Aero in action.
