Appinest Increases Meme Reader Revenue 46x in 4 Months Using Mobclix SDK!

Appinest’s latest hit app, Meme Reader, has pulled in well over 1.5 million downloads in just 6 months. But can they say the same success for their revenue? After switching to Mobclix they can.

The Meme Reader app was created by college students who wanted to share with the world the gift of laughter–in the form of all the best rage comics. The original Meme Reader website (also known as ’9GAG’) was really popular at their school (60% of Meme Readers browsed during class), so since the mobile website was difficult to navigate, they decided to create “an app for that.”

Of course all that hard work shouldn’t go to waste, and they needed some form of monetization to help keep this app alive while still going to school. Prior to integrating the Mobclix SDK, Meme Reader was not seeing appropriate revenue returns given the vast following the app traffic amassed. So they integrated the Mobclix SDK earlier this year, with the goals to increase revenues without increasing user intrusion. Needless to say, their goals were met–fast; they saw an 81% revenue increase in the first day of integration. Below sheds more light on the strategy behind their success, and why they’re still going strong today!

When Appinest first decided to monetize Meme Reader, they used Admob & iAd through a competitor mediator, for about 1.5 months. However, the fill rates they were receiving were low, along with poor CPMs, resulting in nowhere near a desired revenue. Not only that, but the Appinest guys were dealing with a complex in-app ad integration, requiring them to add a separate SDK for each individual network they wanted to try. Low fill rates, low CPMs, low revenue–yet high amount of energy & time? Didn’t make sense to the Appinest guys, either…

Since most of their users were coming from Asia (Singapore to be exact), they wanted to find an ad solution that would help them expand. Not only that, but they wanted to start making more money ASAP before they had to find a different source of income. So when Mobclix reached out to them, they decided to jump ship with their current mediator and begin using our ad exchange.

And boy are they glad they did. Our team helped get their in-app ad strategy in place, suggesting to get rid of fullscreen ads and replace with 320×50, then eventually 300×250 (which has been the most successful ad unit thus far). They also helped decrease the time put into app monetization while tremendously increasing their fill rate & eCPMs, by introducing our lightweight SDK–allowing them to sign up for over 35 different ad networks in just one SDK.

So how much progress did they make since signing on with Mobclix back in February? See for yourself:

1.  Better Fill Rates: 65% increase in monetized impressions in 4 months

2.  Revenue Growth:  46x growth in first 4 months of using Mobclix; overall 536% increase since integration

3.  eCPM increase: 38x increase in first 4 months of using Mobclix; overall 218% increase since integration

Though the solutions may seem simple, it’s hard to figure out what works best for your app when integrating ads. With that said, laughing burns calories–so if you’re into memes, rage comics, or just plain ol’ funny “uber fail” images, download Meme Reader from the iTunes App Store today! (Y U No Download?)
