“Utterly Adorable” “Easy to Learn” “Challenging to Master” – all quotes from various mobile app magazines describing Booyah, Inc’s latest app, Early Bird! Recently updated and released for Android, Early Bird is designed to fit the common saying: “The early bird catches the worm.” Contrary to what you might think, the game doesn’t train you to be better with time. Instead, the goal is to help the Early Bird catch the worm on 96 different, fun-filled levels across 4 challenging zones. If you’re big on graphics, this app really nails each level’s design, making the game much more exciting and enjoyable for all ages.
Booyah, Inc’s, Brian Cho, was able to sit down with us and shed some light on the success of the game, as well as their success with using Mobclix to monetize.

1) What inspired you to build the app?
One of our designers came up with the idea of mixing mini-golf up with a crabby worm and a baby bird. Our engineering team ran with it, and put together a small prototype for the team to test. The game really resonated with everyone in the studio–next thing you know, the game is hitting top charts across iOS and Android!
2) Why does the ad revenue model make sense for you?
We’re attracted to the free-to-play model, and saw much success with our ad-supported app versions, as it maximized distribution and reach for our consumers.
3) Why did you choose Mobclix?
Simply put, Mobclix allows for mediation of different partners, which makes it easy for a developer like us to work with various folks who can drive user acquisition.
4) What tips do you have for other developers?
Going free with IAP is really the way to go given the shift in the games ecosystem. Even the top arcade games are going this route in order to maximize their user reach, which is such an important piece to keeping your apps on top.
