There’s been a lot of discussion lately around Passbook being slow to catch on, particularly in the UK and Europe. However, it may be that marketers have not yet considered effective and interesting ways for their business to use it.
Airlines have shown the strongest uptake in Passbook, allowing customers to store boarding passes on their iPhone. The term ‘Pass’ itself may be misleading as it seems mainly aimed at Travel companies, but Passbook ‘Passes’ can offer much more than just serving the purpose of an electronic ticket, e.g.:
- Dynamic, geo-targeted ticketing
- Driving voucher redemption
- Enhancing customer experience
