Millennial Media’s October SMART report came out today and we’ve provided the data for a special Mobile App Snapshot, giving insight into the mobile app world for Apple, Android and RIM devices.
Highlights from the Mobile App Snapshot include
- Apple dominates the mobile app space with 115,000 apps compared to Android’s 13,000 and RIM’s 3,100.
- In-App CTR (click-through rate) varies widely based on category and manufacturer, but Apple offers the highest CTR in the social, entertainment, utility and navigation categories.
- Apple still leads in app downloads with 100 million a month, but Android’s 20 million monthly downloads are still impressive.
This snapshot provides insight into Apple’s current prominence in the mobile app space. With the recent release of the hyped Droid, we expect to see Android’s numbers grow, but the Android ma
rket still has a long way to go before it can truly compete with Apple’s 115,000 strong App Store.
