As a leader in providing the widest range of engaging and innovative mobile services worldwide, we want to take some time to focus on one: augmented reality.
Although augmented reality (AR) is still in its infancy, many brands are catching on to the marketing opportunities AR offers, using it more and more in their customer engagements. With a predicted AR-generated revenue of $714M in 2014 (via Juniper Research), most of it will be driven by subscription based services, advertising, and AR-based app downloads.
James Bentham, MIG specialist in mobile marketing and digital communication services, recently wrote a byline on Mobile Marketing Watch highlighting key benefits to using AR in your mobile marketing campaign–some important facts:
- On where augmented reality will be most relevant: “…a major growth niche for the AR mobile marketing segment will be through the development of “games” designed to help advertise products.”
- On how augmented reality will be used by customers: “As smartphones improve their functionality, AR inches closer and closer to widespread adoption.”
The article also covers some great examples of augmented reality in mobile marketing from Volkswagon Beetle, Starbucks, and Moosejaw App. Learn more about how these early adopters of AR have made it work for their brands in the full article, here.
